Looking at the x-ray of the barium swallow test, we were able to clearly see the narrowing of her esophagus (by the wrapping around of her aorta), which means that her windpipe is being compressed too.
We consulted with the cardiologist, and he assured us that the procedure is more than necessary, and that a complete team of cardiologist and the surgery team agree as well.
Here is a link showing what her heart looks like (be sure to “click” page 3 to see what they will do to correct it). http://www.pted.org/?id=vascularring2
We won’t know until the Monday if they intended for her to go directly to the cardiac floor after the surgery, or to ICU then the cardiac floor.
So…please, please, pretty please, pray for our Witty-woo (yes, we really do call her that!). She will go into surgery around 7:30 am Monday morning. Please pray that the surgery is successful, her pain is minimal, and that the effusions (that threatened her life during her last surgery) do not return.
